Set in the island town of Redfall, Massachusetts, players must choose between four characters to fight against an invading legion of vampires. The game is set to be an open-world first-person shooter video game that features both single-player and cooperative multiplayer modes. Redfall was announced at last year’s Xbox & Bethesda Games Showcase, which was the first showcase hosted by the company post-acquisition. Furthermore, given the ambitious nature of the title, the developers chose to make it exclusive to the next generation of consoles, which meant that it would be launching on Xbox Series X|S and PC. But with Bethesda being acquired by Microsoft's Xbox in 2021, their future slate of titles has become exclusive to the platform. The title was originally announced for launch on PS4, Xbox One, and PC. The ambitious title is not only the studio’s first major IP in over 25 years, but it is being developed on a new version of the creation engine, drumming up hype for the upcoming title. Starfield was originally announced back at E3 2018 as the next major title by Bethesda Game Studios after Skyrim and Fallout 4. The teams at Arkane Austin (Redfall) and Bethesda Game Studios (Starfield) have incredible ambitions for their games, and we want to ensure that you receive the best, most polished versions of them. In the update, Bethesda said, We've made the decision to delay the launches of Redfall and Starfield to the first half of 2023. Developed by Bethesda Games Studio and Arkane Austin, both the games were set to launch at the end of this year, with Redfall in September and Starfield in November. Today Bethesda shared an update regarding the upcoming titles, Starfield and Redfall. Xbox’s upcoming flagship title, Starfield, has been delayed to next year (2023) along with Redfall While this is certainly unfortunate for fans hoping to travel to galaxies far, far away, it does promise a complete title unshackled from the curse of rushed deadlines and unfinished games. Originally set for November 11, 2022, the game has now been delayed to early 2023, along with Arkane Austin’s Redfall. Since there were four characters shown in the announcement trailer, this cinematic reveal was likely trying to emulate what an intense vampiric encounter might look like when you’re patrolling with your squad.2746 An update on Redfall and Starfield. Redfall features co-op with up to three other players. If this is true, it beckons the question: How will elements from the immersive sim genre play into a co-op experience? It’s hard to say, but we’re stoked to see Redfall gameplay. The official website states, “Redfall brings the studio’s signature gameplay to the co-operative action and FPS genres.” This might mean the game will play similarly to Prey, with a focus on giving players a collection of gadgets, abilities, and weaponry to overcome obstacles in creative ways. However, there was no mention of it being an RPG in official press releases. A co-op, open-world FPS where each character has its unique powers is certainly the foundation for something like that. It could also be a looter-shooter in the vein of Borderlands. She also has a freeze ray that can turn vampires into ice dust. Whether there will be more robots to choose from is yet to be seen. Remi de la Rosa is carrying an automatic assault rifle, and she runs around with a cute little robot that can fire bullets or use its weight to crush vampires. His eye glows with a misty white essence at some point, perhaps giving him enhanced aiming abilities when activated. Jacob Boyer carries a sniper rifle in the trailer and has the power to turn invisible. Redfall will feature a diverse roster of heroes, each with their unique abilities. It's hard to say what some of these do yet, but it's safe to assume they modify your stats in some way. For example, players can seemingly have up to three weapons equipped, along with armor, a memento, a medkit, and remnants. There will be customizable loadouts, special abilities, level requirements, and plenty of loot. It appears our early thoughts regarding it being similar to something like Borderlands is actually true. Leaked images have revealed very early information on what Redfall looks like.
